I just got back from a fun 3 day shoot with Queensbury Media in New York. Such a good time.
It’s funny when I go back to a place I’ve been to before and now that I revisit I’m filming with the Canon 5d and 7d… Things look so differently. I love that experience.
One of my missions in NYC was to film the town with the 7d. Luckily, along the way I had the privilege of visiting B&H for the first time… I know, I should’ve been before but regardless, I felt like I was in Disney World! I broke down and bought an intervalometer while I was there and I’m so psyched I did. Granted, Jon bought his for $34 on Ebay but after we set up an overnight timelapse of the skyline and I knew I’d be without one for 24 hours, I had to get a second one ![]()
Below is a short film of some of New York’s highlights. Hope you enjoy.
Shot with the 7d.
Some still timelapses shot with the 5d.
Glidetrack + Zacuto Z Finder.
50mm f/1.4, 16-35 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8.
Graded with Magic Bullet Looks.

Hey thanks so much for watching!
I use the Glidetrack compact and I love it
hey cristina,
thanks for your answer
! looked to the glidetrack on the glidetrack website. and that´s an amazing tool
! and the price is cheap !
I know! It’s great
I love my compact one, haven’t tried the long one yet
Lovely stuff. Sad that I couldn’t do job but glad you did and did such a good one too!
Thanks Phil! Loved working with Queensbury
Thanks again for the recommendation!
Awesome work! Thanks for sharing this!!
Beautiful work! The shot of the old man slowly walking across the frame stood out for me.
That was amazing. I wanna go back to new york now! Really incredible shots!
omfg! you are amazing! this was incredible. gorgeous and decadent. the first timelapse over NY when the lights turn on I got CHILLS!!!!
you are a force to be reckoned with.
how did you do the slow motion so cleanly? was that shot originally on the 5D or 7D?
Thanks so much Kristen*
We mainly used the 7d (except some still timelapses & we used the 5d). All the slow motion was shot at 50p and then conformed to 25p with Cinema Tools… LOVING the results!
now you’ve given me a reason to check out Cinema Tools!
Great stuff! Ghostwriter is a great track for timelapse, I used it myself a couple months ago for the same type of carlapse.

The piece is awesome. I never did anything with timelapse. Can you please tell me the intervalometer you use or the link ?
Thank you so much!
Juan
Hey Juan! Thank so much for checking out the short & my blog
Lots of info on the intervalometer right here… http://www.canonfilmmakers.com/2009/11/youngnuo-mc-c3intervalometer-awesome-me.html
Enjoy
GET THAT FAG OUT OF YOUR MOUTH CRIS! it ain’t cool no more!!
Ahh… I know
I will, one day but the “fags” kep me warm when I’m out shooting timelapses in the cold…
very very very inspiring…
this intervalmeter…
what exactly is it, how is it used, and what did u use it for?
Thanks for checking this out
The intervalometer is a remote for your camera. You can program it to take a picture every second, 2 seconds, etc. That’s how I did the timelapses
Awesome and amazing! On vimeo you said something about breaking out all your old Nikon gear, did you use Nikon primes for this shoot or all Canon?
Hey Chad! Thanks for checking this out! So ya, I recently started using my Nikon gear for timelapses. I can use my D300 & D200 with all my Nikon glass but the only piece that I can also use with the 5D & 7D is my 14mm Sigma. I got a cheap adaptor on Ebay and it works great
I love having the freedom of being in one location and using my Nikons for timelapses and the Canons for video…. Multitasking
Oh! And to answer your actual question, we only used Canon glass for the NYC shoot. I hadn’t discovered that I could do timelapses with my Nikons yet and I had borrowed a 16-35mm so was using that over the 14mm (I find the 16-35mm much sharper).
